Why Sober Living?
Why Sober Living?
You or your child have just completed Residential Treatment, what comes next? If you’re like a lot of rehab graduates, you’re probably feeling more than a little nervous about what the future holds. Rejoining the mainstream community can be exciting, but it can also be very intimidating. You might feel frightened at the idea of confronting your old triggers or running into friends from your using days.
Angel Sober Living offers a Safe solution for people in Addiction Recovery. At Angel Sober Living we have round the clock Security Teams on site, 24/7 Camera surveillance of the property inside and out, state of the art Biometric Door Lock systems to ensure the safety of all residents and to keep out anyone who isn’t supposed to be on the property, Case Management on site, Peer Recovery Supporter in Training on site and full Laundry room services at the facility. This allows for the individual to be in a Safe and clean Living environment. Along with Sober Living, Angel Sober Living has an I.O.P (Intensive Out-Patient Program) on site called Angel Intervention LLC & I.O.P Services. Residents of the Sober Living are also enrolled in this program and are expected to participate 9 hours a week.
Rules in a Sober Living
Even before you move into a Sober Living home, you’ll find out what makes it different. You’ll have a strict set of rules to follow, like abstaining from drugs or alcohol, attending house meetings, attending I.O.P, completing specific chores and agreeing to random drug screening. You will probably have a curfew, and you will have to sign in and out whenever you come or go. If you’re a recent rehab graduate, you may be assigned to a senior member of the house who will go with you when you leave the home.
Although the routines of life in Sober Living may sound difficult, they are actually quite effective. Your days have enough structure to keep you on track with your recovery goals, without the intensive monitoring and regulations of a rehab facility. A six-month study of 130 residents in sober living homes published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs showed that 40 percent had stayed clean and sober during that period. Another 24 percent reported that they had abstained from drugs and alcohol for the majority of that time.
Why A Support System is Important?
This support system allows Angel Sober Living residents to avoid the isolation that can sometimes come with returning home while in recovery. It further provides an environment to support recovery from substance abuse and addiction for those who are emerging from rehab. Sober living homes provide a combination of freedom and structure to help the person begin to readjust to life outside of rehab. They are set up specially to serve as transitional housing for people coming out of treatment.
